Community Performances

After hearing on the news about the isolation facing nursing home residents who were quarantined and not allowed to have visits from family members, we wanted to do something to help. This led to our “Quarantine-Can’t-Stop-Us-From-Dancing” performances during the March through May stay-at-home order. Our students performed at local retirement communities and nursing homes, including Brookdale Place of Finneytown and Twin Towers Senior Living Community. By performing outside, we were able to provide entertainment to the senior residents while they remained safely inside and enjoyed our performances through their windows or came outside and watched from a safe distance.
This is just one of many ways that the Cincinnati Dance and Movement Center gives back to the community. Other examples include benefit performances for Valley Interfaith Community Resource Center, free classes for special needs students, free dance workshops to help local Girl Scouts earn their dance badges, presenting dances from around the world at multicultural events at local schools, and performing in community festivals and parades.
