The Cincinnati Dance All-Stars is our competitive dance team, which travels to compete in regional and national dance competitions. The Cincinnati Dance All-Stars do about a half dozen performances per year, usually two local performances plus four competitive events which usually include three regionals in nearby cities such as Dayton, Louisville, Columbus, or Indianapolis, plus one National Finals which varies in location. The Cincinnati Dance All-Stars is made up of girls and boys ranging in age from five to eighteen, divided into different leveled groupings.
Placement on the Cincinnati Dance All-Stars is based on formal auditions held in July each year for the following dance year starting in September. Auditions are open to anyone wishing to participate, and a preparatory class is offered the week of auditions to prepare dancers for what to expect during the audition process.
Below are the divisions for the Cincinnati Dance All-Stars:
The mentioned ages are the range that most students fall into at a level, but there may be older or younger students at that level. The main criteria for placement is level, not age. Once the student has displayed sufficient mastery of the core curriculum as determined by the CDMC faculty and by the judges at auditions in July, then he/she is ready to move on to the next level. It is possible for a dancer to be at different levels in different types of dance – for example, a Junior in jazz but a Senior in tap.
